Emiliano Mazzoni was born in Argenta, Italy in 1973. Charmed by photography since the age of 8, he started documenting the booming skateboard and surf scenes of the early ‘90s, working for skateboard magazines and zines. Studying literature, contemporary history and philosophy at the University of Bologna, Emi grew a passion for cultural travelling and surfing. That’s what pushed him to explore some of the most remote coasts on the planet: Sri Lanka, India, Mozambique, Myanmar, Tunisia, Algeria, Indonesia, Oman, Andaman Islands being only a portion of them. In ’94 he joined SurfNews magazine as a photo-editor and art-director. His images have appeared on publications such as The Surfer's Journal (USA), The Surfer’s Path (UK), Tracks (AUS), Surfing World (JP), Surfing Life (AUS), Surf Style (JP), Transworld Surf (USA), Surf Session (FR), Rugged (D), Huck (UK), Adventure (NZ), Stormrider Guide (UK), Glide (JP), Surf Europe (UK), Surfin’ Life (JP), Surftrip (JP), D la Repubblica delle Donne (IT), Il Venerdì di Repubblica (IT), Velvet (IT). In 2007, together with SlamJam and Carhartt, Emiliano published the book ‘Namaskar India’, documenting 10 years of on-field surf exploration. In 2010 he was selected as contributing photographer for the Carhartt yearly Brand Book. Emiliano actually lives and works in Ravenna.
